Annual Foodways Garden Harvest and Salsa Demo

At Fort Selden Historic Site
8/29/26, Saturday
10:00am - 12:00pm

Join Ranger Mike and help us harvest the chiles and vegetables from our foodways garden. You’ll also learn the process of roasting chiles, making your own delicious salsa and chile sauces, and canning.

This year’s foodways garden is focused on Indigenous agriculture, specifically, corn, squash, and beans, known as the Three Sisters. The chile garden also tells the story of New Mexican agriculture.

Cooking outdoors is contingent on weather and fire restrictions. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 16 and younger. Please call 575-526-8911 for more information.
