Campfire Kitchen: Irish Roots
At Fort Selden Historic Site
3/15/25, Saturday
10:00am - 11:00am
Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Fort Selden Historic Site. Join Ranger Mike around the campfire as he cooks an Irish American classic, “Corned Beef & Cabbage.” Did you know that Fort Selden hosted soldiers from many diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds? Many of the soldiers stationed at Fort Selden were first generation immigrants, including from Ireland. Ranger Mike will share his family’s century-old recipe and give a talk about how soldiers shared their cultural diversity through food. Food samples will be limited.
Note: Any active flames or cooking over a live fire is dependent on state and local fire restrictions as well as expected weather conditions and current wind speeds.
Demonstration and ranger interaction is included as part of general admission of $5/adult and free for children 16 years and younger.
