Join Taylor-Mesilla Historic Site in a partnership with Las Cruces Public Libraries for a new series highlighting children’s books of the Southwest for school aged children kindergarten through fifth grade. A ranger from Taylor-Mesilla will be at the Branigan Library to read a children’s book about the Southwest followed by a hands-on activity inspired by the book. At this first Book Buddies, Ranger Sage will read Southwest Sunrise, by Nikki Grimes, which tells the story of Jayden, a young boy from New York learning to make Mexico home. Along the way he discovers some of the flora and fauna that lives just outside his door. After reading Southwest Sunrise participants can color their own field guide.
