Lincoln Lecture Series: The Dark History of the Lincoln Courthouse
At Lincoln Historic Site
8/3/24, Saturday
2:00pm - 3:00pm
Join us for a special addition to the Lincoln Lecture Series. Today we’ll host two programs as part of Old Lincoln Days. Mary Lavin will discuss cooperative forest fire prevention and the true story of Smokey the Bear from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
In this second lecture, Brandon Dixon talks about the dark and violent history of the Lincoln Courthouse from 2 – 3 p.m. Dixon is a Combat Veteran who earned the Bronze Star with Valor, two additional Bronze Star Medals, and The Purple Heart. A published writer in The Tombstone Epitaph, Wild West Magazine, and other publications, Dixon has volunteered at Lincoln Historic Site and guided “The Most Dangerous Street Tour in America.”
These lectures delve into fascinating topics from guest lecturers throughout the state and take place in the iconic San Juan Bautista Church. Lincoln Lecture Series is included with admission of $7/adults and free to children 16 years and younger.
