Does your child enjoy spending time outdoors? Would they love to explore the bosque with friends and learn more about water, birds, plants, and animals that live near them?

This summer, Los Luceros Historic Site and the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) are offering a day camp for kids that combines hands-on projects and outdoor exploration. Each day will be focused on a different theme from the New Mexico Outdoor Pass booklet. After completing activities about different outdoor themes, campers will choose from outdoor prizes, such as camping mugs, picnic blankets, and multipurpose tools. Children who attend this camp will learn how to identify clouds, cast a fishing line, find animal tracks, bird watch, learn how an acequia works, and much more. This camp encompasses art projects, Northern New Mexican culture, and citizen/student science projects.

This camp is guided by seasoned educators with current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, ensuring a safe environment for every camper. Our experienced team designs camps that holistically address each participant’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being, fostering a transformative and enriching summer experience.

The camp meets daily, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Campers must be dropped off at Los Luceros Historic Site between 8:45 and 9 a.m. and picked up between 4 and 4:15 p.m. each day. Participants must be entering grades 1, 2, or 3 in fall 2024.

Scholarships are available and provided by the Northern Rio Grande National Heritage Area. Please email kristen@peecnature.org or call 505-662-0460 for more information.

Camp is $100 per student. Register online at PEEC’s website.
