Head to where Billy the Kid’s legend began–and nearly ended... Join the festivities at the annual Old Lincoln Days

August 7—August 9, 2015

The town of Lincoln, NM, perhaps better-known as Lincoln Historic Site, comes alive during the annual Old Lincoln Days, a three day-long celebration and historic re-creation of the frontier West. Bring your family and take a trip into the historic past.

Lincoln comes alive during Old Lincoln Days. This year is the seventy-fifth anniversary of “The Last Escape of Billy the Kid,” a pageant first produced in 1940, when local artist Peter Hurd played Billy. During the weekend the village is packed with 7,000 of its closest friends, reliving the frontier West with chuck-wagon cooks, blacksmiths, dancing girls, gunfighters, speakers, a parade, and three showings of the pageant. Vendors and food concessionaires will be on the scene. Seven museums of the Lincoln Historic Site will be open, including the Anderson-Freeman Visitor Center and the Murphy-Dolan Store, now known as the Old Lincoln County Courthouse.  Call (575) 653-4025 for more information.

Old Lincoln Days begins Friday, August 7 and runs through Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 9am to 5pm both days; and on Sunday, August 9 from 9am to 3pm. Admission is $5 per adult to access the Historic Site. Children, veterans, and active military and their families are free. New Mexico residents are free on Sundays.
